New Features

What’s New with Earmark for October 2023

Blake Oliver · September 27, 2023 ·

We’ve been busy enhancing the Earmark experience this month with handy new features to help you get the most out of earning CPE.

Streamlined PDF Certificates

Tired of printing certificate emails to PDF one by one? Now when you email a certificate to yourself, a PDF copy is attached for easy saving and sharing.

Private Courses for Your Team

Earmark for Teams users rejoice! You can now create private courses to distribute internal training material and build customized CPE courses for your organization. Ask us how to get started.

Automated Certificate Forwarding

Stop manually forwarding certificates to your firm’s learning and development coordinator. Add a CC email to your profile, and we’ll automatically send copies of all your CPE certificates to that address.

Enhanced CPE History Export

Your course history now includes channel names and author details when exporting to Excel. Now you have more metadata at your fingertips for analyzing your learning.

Simplified Course Linking

We’ve improved our deep linking to make it seamless to open courses directly in the Earmark app from other apps on your mobile device.

Clean Content Filter

Some courses touch on sensitive topics. We’ve added an “Explicit” tag so you can filter out any content you’d rather not listen to.

Earn CPE for Listening To Podcasts

That’s all for this update. Still need to try out Earmark? Download the free app and start earning CPE for listening to podcasts today.

What’s New with Earmark for July 2023

Blake Oliver · July 26, 2023 ·

I’m excited to share some of the new features and updates we’ve added to the Earmark app this month.

My three favorite additions are the new built-in media player that lets you control audio playback within the app, the ability to add an email CC address to automatically forward CPE certificates, and the option to un-enroll from courses you don’t want to finish.

Here’s the full rundown:

Built-in media player

My favorite new addition is the built-in media player. When you start playing a podcast or audio course, you can access playback controls directly within the app. Tap the episode name to expand the player and get options like rewind, fast forward, play/pause, and scrubbing. You can even minimize the app while the audio keeps playing, just like a standalone podcast app. We’re rolling this out across all new courses, so stay tuned for more podcasts you can listen to right in the app.

Light mode is now default

Light mode is now the default look for new users. If you prefer dark mode, head to your profile settings and toggle it over to dark mode.

Improved channel sorting

We’ve improved channel sorting so the most recently updated courses appear at the top. You can also change the sort order to alphabetical if you prefer. Just tap the sort icon on the Channels screen.

Email CC for certificates

Add a second email address to your profile to automatically CC your CPE certificates. No more manual forwarding to collect certificates!

Subscriber-only label

Our library has grown to over 800 hours of CPE, so we’ve marked some older courses as “Subscriber-Only” to encourage Unlimited Subscriptions. These are only available to paying subscribers.

Cross-platform sync

Your account settings and subscription status now sync across Android and iOS. Purchase a subscription on one device, and it’s available on the other!

Filter for IRS CE in the CPE Tracker

We’ve added an IRS CE tab on the CPE tracker to easily filter courses that qualify for IRS continuing education.

Un-enroll from courses

Don’t want to finish a course? You can now un-enroll so the course will no longer display on your “In Progress” courses on your Profile.

New channels

Check out new shows like the Mr. R Show and The Lifestyle Accountant!

Subscribe before August 1 to lock in the $99/year price

Thank you for supporting Earmark this past year. If you haven’t subscribed, you can lock in the current $99/year price before it goes up on August 1 to $129.

What’s New In Earmark CPE for February 2023

Blake Oliver · February 1, 2023 ·

I’m excited to share the newest features and updates we’ve been working on to make the CPE experience easier and more intuitive. From sticky search filters that make it easier to find what you’re looking for, to the introduction of the Federal Tax Updates Podcast and ACPEN channels, there’s something for everyone. Keep reading to learn more about what’s new in Earmark CPE for February.

App Improvements

Quiz Question Feedback

If you find an error in one of our review or quiz questions, you can now report it for us to fix. Simply click the “flag” icon in the upper right corner of the question, provide your feedback, and click submit. We’ll receive an email with the question and your feedback.

Persistent Course Listing

When you view a course and then return to the course listing, you will now stay in the same place. Previously, you would be taken back to the top of the screen, and you had to scroll all the way back down. This annoyance is now a thing of the past.

Sticky Search Filter for IRS CE

If you filter by Licensing Body for IRS CE on the Courses screen, that filter will remain when you leave and return. We hope this makes the app more useful for our members who are Enrolled Agents and only want to see courses that qualify for continuing education credits with the Internal Revenue Service.

Notifications

Enable notifications to be reminded when:

  • You have a new free CPE credit available
  • You have registered for a course but not yet completed the quiz to earn your certificate

To enable notifications, go to your Profile and toggle the switch.

Open Links in External Browser

You can decide whether to open links in the integrated web browser or an external browser. To change this setting, go to your Profile:

Bug fix: Update your email/name in profile

Previously, some users reported issues when editing their name or email in their Profile. We have fixed this bug. Please let us know if it appears again!

Coming Soon: Windows Version

Good news for those who have requested the ability to use Earmark CPE on their desktop or laptop PC! We are developing a Windows version of the app. It is functioning and we just need to make a few adjustments before releasing it.

New Channels

Federal Tax Updates Podcast

We have added a new channel to the app: the Federal Tax Updates Podcast. This channel will provide you with the latest news and updates about federal taxes and tax law changes. Listen and subscribe at FederalTaxUpdates.com, then take the courses on Earmark CPE to get your free NASBA- and IRS-approved continuing education.

ACPEN

We’ve also welcomed ACPEN to Earmark! ACPEN is providing select premium CPE courses from their library for distribution via Earmark CPE. ACPEN is the largest provider of streaming video webinars for continuing education for CPAs in the U.S. Tap the “Channels” icon to see ACPEN’s first course, “Single Audit Nuts and Bolts (Field of Study: Governmental Accounting).

Course Artwork on Course Pages

Blake Oliver · September 21, 2022 ·

Authors will be pleased to learn that we’ve improved course pages to display your custom course artwork. Here’s an example.

And now when you share a course on social media, your course artwork will display as a preview image.

How to Share a Course

Here’s how to retrieve a course link and share it with the world:

  • Go to your course in the Earmark CPE App
  • Tap the Share icon (see below)
  • Copy the text or share it directly on social media

I hope this helps you promote your courses more effectively!

Up Next: Embedded Media

Next, we’re working on embedding media such as podcast episodes and YouTube videos directly on these pages so your audience can start the course immediately, then download the app later to take the quiz for CPE credit.
